We stop the trains for a brief Birthday Celebration
for MTAD TKO who had
just turned 19, sometime previous to July 28th, 2004. Congratulations!
You are just entering manhood at a very Unreasonable Time in the evolution of the planet. Things are in a state of unrest. The environment is being systematically destroyed by governments, corporations and individuals who have no clue of what they're doing. People are now born with cell-phones in their mouths and computers in their ears. Beer is going up in price and down in quality. Work on a good painting crew is harder and harder to find. But dammit, the human spirit persists. Remio has been dancing with us for a while. One must compliment this approach for its readability and it's funky humorous style. "Ain't no Heaven until you're Home" it says reminding us of the spirit of Wholesome things like Milk, cookies and Cuban cigarillos. Stars and Fireworks is the theme of Today's Roastaroma Herbal special on the right. "Calen" or "Cakn" tells us that life is Spectacular, and Creativity is Aflame. Especially when you set your coat on fire, trying to light that spliff. SERIOUS GEOMETRIC LINES: Whatever this is, it looks good on your kitchen counter. Herbal vitamin colors, along with legible letters even a blind man could read, combined with a unique style departing from the all-too-mundane "pointy-puppy-dog-spikey" style so rampant among young wannabee's these days. Combine this Classy Utilitarian approach with the visionary artwork of someone like "LaBrona", and you have real TRAIN ART, not just "Party Scrawls". Makes you wanna go back to school and get "ahead" in life. We like it! (If people don't improve their lot in life, they end up painting billboards for Jimi Pattison. Then they've got something to drink about...)
Okay, now we're Movin' Along. On the right, Dear People of the First Nation, we have the outline of the Devil. This type of sentimentality is required and renowned in the culture of Street and Track Art. One must proclaim one's "Devilhood" at regular intervals in one's career, or the line gets blurred between your juvenile intent and your parents' Christian Whole-Wheat Life approach. Actually the soul of Art is good - it has nothing to do with either Lucifer or Moses. We just have a preoccupation with our "image" among our peers. Do you realize that your peers couldn't really give a shit about what's beyond the end of their own nose? So your preoccupation with either having a dirty face or a clean face is a moot point. Just drink your beer and go home. It's time for our daily "Children's Book On The Rails" installment.
You know, as much as I hate High School Sentimentality, I love the honesty, the simplicity and the heart-felt courage of this little throw-up, signed by T3M. "Myne Lula Bell" speaks to all of us as the Childhood Sweetie that we yearned for, and yet somehow lost track of in the Freeways of Life. If we could go back there, would we? Lula Bell still waits for us with her scarlet hat and her sleeveless underwear. When we remember her, we wake up from the dream of Adulthood and realize we've never left home. We're tired, it's a Long Day in a Cold November. OPS tries as always to keep us informed and deformed with his SHYNS and shenanigans. I'm going to sleep on the Rails. What to do with our Spare Time and our Used Auto Parts? A trip to Army & Navy Dep't Store? A browse thru Value Village? Some Charity work at the Leper Colony in Bombay? Because you're so grumpy, and I'm so sleepy, we're going to end this day with Fairy Tales starring July 28th's Train Taggers. Ready?
